    Sorry for your troubles :(

Even if your warranty is *expired*. You still have the one year *extended* warranty on the GPU. See *below* decaPODA attached it! ;)

Contact Dell..and no, if's and or but's..by them..if it's the GPU issue..they have to attend to it and fix it for you. :)

*sigh* your still having problems? :( :(

so does anyone know if the M1530's were ever eligible for the windows 7 upgrade? or did DELL stop selling them before that date?

I retrieved this information I posted from the previous page:

    See this site...for more info:
    http://www.dell.com/content/topics/...s-7-consumer?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=anavml

You can get Win7..but you would have to pay for it, according to this information:

    https://win7.dell.com/Eligibility.aspx
So basically, those with purchases beginning 6/26/09 going forward til 12/31/09 are eligible.

    Hope that helps...

    Cin ;) :)

Yeah, I think that's one of the same links as above? ;)

I'm not sure what they will be doing..perhaps a Chat with Support is needed! :D Might muster up even more confusion with them! :p lulz.

Guys is there a number that I can call and I can actually talk to a live person? I'm tired of talking to machines and outsourced twats that barely speak english and enjoy hanging up the phone when they "have no idea what I'm talking about"

I'm located in Canada, I need to get the mobo replaced as I'm going to sell this laptop and I want it to be perfect for the next owner.

    Try this one:

I've tried calling that number, I keep getting redirected to US tech support when I'm transfered to Canadian tech support I get hung up on. I'm going to write a letter to someone higher up, that usually gets results.

Quick question hopefully someone will be able to help with.

My laptop came with an Intel 4965 wifi card. Is there a way to enable 5ghz mode and get 300mbps? I also have a 5300 and I can enable it through the drivers and I have no problem, my router completely supports it. Only problem is that since I got the card there's been random freezing when doing mass downloading. I need the better transfer speeds but I had the system crashes. Does the 4965 have the ability to turn on 5ghz N transfers for 300mbps? and if so how would I go about doing it?

    Thanks.

Yes, the 4965 can connect to 5ghz networks. Make sure you use WPA2 and AES for encryption on your router, this is a very important detail in getting it to work with this card.

Didn't realize that XPS M1530 was at the end of it life cycle; probably would have gone with the Studio model. Oh well. I got it to play Blu-ray movies which it can do; so I'm satisfied. However, when I set up audio over HDMI I can only get 2 channels instead of multichannel audio. I have the Nvidia 8600M GT video card which I understand ports the audio from S/PIDF to HDMI and the S/PDIF can only support 2 channels. Is this correct or am I missing something? The Sigmatel audio drivers look old but Dell hasn't updated them.

Well - I wonder how they're actually going to administer that taking into account that there are NO Win 7 drivers for this particular model?

I've just sorted out my Win 7 Ultimate x64 install - everything seems to (finally) work but since even Dell's own Vista's x64 drivers are well over a year old you do have to search around for a video or (especially) audio driver that works.

Yes, most know that....That post was helping a member out on questions about Dell's free Upgrade program back in 9/09 for Win 7.....................................

There is a specific thread here in the XPS forum for the 1530/Win7 64Bit Upgrade. < Search > function, helps!

Here is the thread, anyways, it's helpful. Glad you got your issue sorted out. Most had prob's with the Vid Driver. My install was super easy, minus one or 2DL issues.

I have a 1530 running Windows 7 64bit and I want to upgrade to 8 gigs of RAM. If anyone can tell me the best place (value) to purchase this I would appreciate it.

I should have said I'm sure too that it's an LG panel but can find no reference to it on their website or anywhere else for that matter.
Even the company thar supplied this don't recognise the number.
I was supposed to be receiving a LP154WP2 so i was trying to determine if they are one and the same thing.

I can't remember anyone doing this. As long as it's one of the compatible panels and it does not uses a different connector or inverter it should work.

isn't that a 1280x800 screen? If so that's the lowest resolution that was available on the M1530.

Yeah, its the lowest it came with but I found a monitor but the converter isn't on the bottom.

    NEW DELL XPS M1530 LP154W01 15.4" WXGA LCD SCREEN A+ - eBay (item 400128689845 end time Jul-14-10 18:56:15 PDT)

Found a Samsung with 1920x1080 but don't know about upgrading resolutions.

Kinda scared since all these ebay sellers don't take returns without heavy restocking fees so I want to get it right.

The inverter is usualy under the plate with the CD controls which is located above the keyboard.

So you want to replace the LP154W01 with a 1920x1080 panel?

I just want it working again.

    Yes I see it.

The one you bought as a replacement doesn't have it? So you need to remove this part and install it on your replacement panel?

Just reviewed the Service manual for the M1530 and it seems the LCD normally comes with this part attached. Not sure how it is fastened to the panel, screws or rivets?

If it's too complicated I'll just pay dell the money and call it a day.

So far its ccfl 1280x800 LG monitor.

Quick question, my laptop came refurbished from the outlet, I just checked the model number on the back of the screen and it says lg1540w1 but when I go to device manager and check the monitor the id says the nu763.

Basically my monitor is probably from a computer that's not standard with the xps m1530?

I got it, the resolution is determined by the lcd cable that came with the laptop so I'll still be getting my resolution of 1280x800 even if I bought that 1080p monitor.

Also the inverter is a simple bolt and screw to remove.
