I have a dell xps 1210 and a 1530. The driver for the 1210 touchpad is far superior to the dell driver on the newer 1530. My main wish is to have dedicated corners, like I do on my 1210 so that tapping the upper left for instance, moves me back in explorer. It is not an option in the software. Is there a way to upgrade to the "old" 1210 software on the 1530 to add this feature?

It's not just drivers, it's the physical touchpad's capabilities. Someone might have written an application that will allow for this (I personally do not know of it, as based on my understanding of a basic touchpad, it does not seem possible). So... No, sorry, I don't think so.

too bad that the 1530 uses an alps touchpad.. but if you install a generic driver(not "dell touchpad"), there might be more options.. i'd look it up but i don't have an alps touchpad, and i can't get onto their site right now to check if they even have drivers.... http://www.alps.com/

apparently alps licenses hardware from cirque, so if you figure out which cirque driver you can use you might be able to get tap zones but try at your own risk.. http://www.cirque.com/pages/?section=10&page=75

is this possible for the 1330 with synaptics? or is it the same result because alps/synaptics are similar drivers?

regarding the xps m1330, i link to someone else's experiences http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=202932

apparently the person from the last post installed a generic synaptics driver for use with their touchpad and got tap zones working!!
edit: oh no they didn't... what was i...
edit2: i guess the XPS m1330 has a synaptics touchpad..

summary: if the XPS m1330 has a synaptics touchpad just install the drivers from this page and you should have full(er) customisation of your touchpad http://www.synaptics.com/support/drive.cfm

if you're feeling adventurous then try these http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=307065
