I think M1730 is alot more powerful system for gaming, but past experience tells me the Sony has better build quality.
If you take the M1730, it has a good chance of getting replaced by M17x down the road.
If you want a better gaming laptop, then I guess yes....
Again, you should ask your self the question, or perhaps, trade it for a week and see. -
what u mean getting replaced by m17x??

All dell machines get replaced if you continue to have problems. Dell will try to fix the laptop, but after too many attemps, they usually just issue out a replacement system. The replacement systems usually are better spec than your previous system, and that's the best part about owning dell machines with a long warranty.
I had M1730, and had problem with GPU. Tech came to replace the GPU, and broke other part in the process. This kept on for 4 visits - All different field techs come out to replace a part, and breaking another while doing it. On last visit, I saw the field tech breaking something inside palmrest, and ended up with a wobbly system. I told him to call Dell himself to order the part that we needed, and the Dell rep on the phone said she was just going to replace my system with AW M17x.
This is main reason I keep buy Dell product. They don't BS customer, and are usually fair.
There are people who down right abuse this, but that's another story. -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
He means that since there is still 2 years of warranty left. That if the time should rise for a replacement system you will get an M17x R2 which is a beast! and the most comparable system to the M1730
I say trade my friend trade away and never look back -
ya seems like a good idea, i paid 1200 for this laptop 2 months ago but is not a good gaming laptop because of the 330m.

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
you will not have that problem again if you do this trade.
-
the only thing that keept holding me was the warranty transfer. Do i need his info to transfer the warranty??? or should i call dell??? any advice???

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
You will need to do both of those get his info first(shouldn't be hard as he is your friend
) then no need to call dell as you can do it from their site.
