My Dell XPS 1530 can operate using an iGo everywhereMAX laptop adapter with the 202 tip, but it will not charge the battery, even when the laptop is a sleep or powered down.

    Anyone else have this issue?

Sounds like the computer will run off igo, but just not charge anything. Usually the battery icon will say "plugged in, not charging".

My guess is the output from the igo is enough to run the laptop, but not charge the battery. Either that or the laptop is detecting its not a Dell OEM adapter and is not charging the battery as some safety kick-in.

With you there.... could be either of the two reasons. Or maybe there's a problem with the internal circuitry of the adapter.

I have a service request in with iGo as well to see if they have a solution to this issue. I get the message as you described "plugged in, not charging". Is there a way to shut off the powermanagement protection?

    Any other ideas.

It is probably the lack of the communication pin that tells the mobo that a enuine dell adapter is connected.. Without it, the adapter would supply power, but the battery wouldn't charge..

    From iGo Support

Unfortunately, we have experienced a compatibility issue with tip 202 and some models of Dell notebooks. Your model is one of those identified as not being recognized as being plugged in but not charging. A solution has been identified but the supplier has not committed to a ship date of when the new revision of tip 202 will be available. We can offer a refund if you would send me a copy of the receipt you paid and return the adapter US postal (max. $6 allowance).

The other alternative, is to ship you a refurbished Everywhere 130 with tip S35. Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

On behalf of iGo, I apologize for the inconveniences.
