    3 wire includes an earth wire and 2 wire does not. The latter may be preferable if you are connecting to audio equipment and get an unwanted hum.

    However, before you buy from Dell check out ebay. Genuine Dell PSUs are available at much more reasonable prices. See here for example. What is the model number of your existing PSU?

    Thanks for your reply. Havent go tmy PSU on me, but its a slightly chunky (IMO) 130W.
    Would any DELL 130W do on eBay for my 1645?

    As far as I know, Dell use the same PSU range for all their recent notebook products. They all output 19.5V with different currents according to the power rating.

    The 130W PSU for my Dell e-port is from the PA-4E family and is slimmer than the PSU in the links you provided. See it here.
