This is probably the worst mistake I have done configuring this xps 14. Everything else is great except I don't have the shiny backlit keyboard!

It was the "this may delay your system ship date" tag that scared me, but it still ended up taking so long so I might have get it the same date even if I opted the backlit keyboard. This feeling is killing me.

Last week I chatted in with them and they told me the backlit keyboard was out of stock, and I just chatted in again and was told it's back on stock, but it costs a surprising $45, for a refurbished one(they don't sell brand new ones)! Probably before tax and shipping, too. While the original upgrade only costed $25, not to mention it's brand new.

So...do you guys think I'd possibly get a free/reduced price replacement if I call in and ask for it? This lappy is still under the 21day policy, would it make any difference?

    Thanks for help!

Meh, I'd return it and wait for the updated versions to come out with the island style keyboard.

I'd like to do that if this is not the only entertainment I have access to in the next few months, starting next week. Plus there's not a single defective part on this lappy, which would probably lead the the 15% restocking fee, too much for me.
