I often do audio recording for radio from the field with my 1530 - reading text off the screen, and using a sensitive external microphone placed nearby.
Is there any way to cut off the fan (temporarily) so the noise won't bleed through?
I think one of the previous BIOS (A7-8?) allowed the fan to shut off, depending on the power setting - but now it's on constantly, whether on battery, plugged in, high performance, power saver or Dell recommended.
I know there's fan speed controller software out there, but I'm not sure that I want to install it because of possible BIOS conflicts/heat damage.
Thanks,

Haven't got my M1530 in yet but I know I8kfanGUI allowed for automatic or manual control of the fans on my Inspiron 6000. Download it here:
