Got a question, and I don't know if much discussion has been centered around it. I am having a hard time trying to pick either Tuxedo Black or Midnight Blue for my Dell XPS M1530 notebook. Knowing I wont see much of the back of the LCD panel when it is opened, what is the more durable finish?
Tuxedo Black is free while Midnight Blue is an extra $25. What is easier to clean and maintain? Also what finish has more of the chance to split, chip, crack, etc...?

I would go black and save the money. That's what I did.
-
From what I can tell, the Midnight Blue seems to be more in demand, and can cause delays. I went with the Black because of this.
-
Yeah Black is the color they have the most available of I think. Probably them most popular. Black looks better imo because it matches the bottom of the laptop and makes like a warp around in between the metal finish on the sides.

Go Black. Then spend your money on www.skinit.com

RTP, how is the 1920x1200 screen? I just ordered one with it.
Sorry about hi-jacking your thread. -
Thank you, but specifically I was asking:
1.) What is the more durable finish?
2.) What finish is easier to clean and maintain?
3.) What finish has more of the chance to split, chip, crack, or wear down more over time? -
notebooks4ever: fo black coz it will match the bottom part of your lappy.you answered you own question.why would you bother going blue when you won't see the lid most of the time.
dfi fan: this resolution is faaar too small.your eyes are definitely going to take a blow..adjusting the dpi will just make the images, icons stc seem distorted. -
I got the blue and it is really really nice, looks amazing with the steel bits.
I have had mine for 9 months and not one mark, but I do use the case that came with it.
I never paid anything for a different colour, must be a UK thing, as I could choose any colour and all was free. -
luke1708, it is a matter of quality through and through. Even though I wont see the back of my computer when it is being used, when I do close the lid, I want to be sure I have a durable, clean, quality finish, therefore I ask those questions.

I so wish they had red!!!

Yeah I would have got the RED one if it wasn't more money. It use to be the same amount as the other colors then one day they decided to make it part of a special Product Red edition. Plus the RED one wasn't part of the special deal I got. Though I wonder if the red one would stand out too much and be a prime target for theft. Then again, any laptop with the letters "XPS" on it probably is.

Whats the difference between product red xps m1530 and a regular m1530; seems you can't get an LED screen, anything else?
edit: Looks like you get a smaller possible hard drive
also what are the limits of the 1330 compared to the 1530, Video card is one of them i think, is there any others? -
Well if you complete your order by the end of today using dell's top 10 deals then you won't have to shell out another $25 bucks for midnight blue as its included ^^
-
Another vote for Tuxedo Black...matches rest of system, and is elegant and sexy.

See my two comments. -
does anyone know if the shell is interchangeable or how much it cost to change it?
-
Crimson Red anyday. It totally rocks. Stands apart and attracts glances anywhere I take it.
-
I would go with the blue. I just received mine and I love it. I was at best buy a couple of days ago looking for a carrying case and they had a black M1530 on display and I noticed that the black one has a black plasticky finish and the blue is more like a rubberized finish, i`m happy I went with the blue.

You can get a replacement lid, but you'd have to shell out some $$ for it at:
parts-people.com They sell refurb dell laptop parts.
