I want to buy an xps1530 because I just feel it is of a higher quality than the DV5s. However, i have two questions

    1. Are there any retail stores that still carry it?
    2. Is it going to screw me that it is an old platform? Am I stupid for buying a computer at the same price as a newer model?

    1. BestBuy, I believe
    2. Not THAT old, depends
Do you need a laptop right away? If not, I would wait awhile.

    Good luck

Best Buy, Staples, Costco (at least where I am) and Walmart. :)

And, depending on soon you need the 1530..you may want to wait for the new ones to come out ;) :)

Oh I have the 1530...and love it..So, you are making a great choice! ;) :)

    Cin ;) :)

Yay! Higher Quality than DV5! I think the DV5 looks neat, but there are heat problems with them too.

I have the M1530 too, you can't go wrong with it.

i love my xps m1530, i recommend it to anyone looking for a medium seize laptop, although i do recommend you order from the dell website, its worth the wait, that way you get the things you want, and leave the things you dont, and overall you will be more satisfied, waiting 12 or 15 was no problem for me, opening the box once it arrives is a very neat experience :D

    Welcome to the club

Yeah, its very fun. The design of the boxes, the casing, the laptop itself, the shiny silver keyboard... the leather manual, the surprise remote, the cloth, the earbuds, the CDs, the random Lord of the Trings Trial, its like getting a bazillion gifts all in one package! :) :)

I ordered without antivirus, so that was one less thing to remove. The only thing I had to axe, err... throw angel dust on ;) :) was the Roxio CD Burning Software, its useful, but... Roxio takes up loads of space, the MS Office 2007 trial, since I already have a full version, and all those web links to places I will never go to.

It was fun for me because it wasn't as big of a hassle as other Dell laptop's I've owned.

I ordered one on 7/21 ... got an amazing deal ... and it's still not here yet. Got my Logitech V450 Nano Mouse in the mail today though from Dell ... so I have a mouse with no computer :D ... hopefully this computer is worth the wait ... it looks like it will be.

None of those companies have it anymore, that is why I asked.

And I need a computer ASAP probably, so that kind of sucks I suppose.

No retail stores in my area carry the m1530. If you are OK with an M1330, Best Buy carries that at decent specs...

And personally I think its better to buy an older model because the company has had more time to fix the little weird things that could be problems....keyboard bulge, shocking wristpad, grainy screens, frying motherboards,, wow why are there so many things that can go wrong with this laptop lol

Yup. Both discs are included. Along with a Drivers & Utilities disc, Webcam Manager Disc, Roxio disc, and Lord of the Rings Online Trial (kinda useless).

Does it come with a remote, earbuds for free or did you order those. I saw the remote as an option and thought it would be neat because I want to use my laptop as a portable Blu-ray player hooked up to a TV but I didn't want to pay the $50+ for it.

in USA, remote is automatically included in your invoice (or at least i think so)

earbuds is YMMV.... if u didnt receive, go complain (search here for Dell Accessories thread to see what other people got)

if u'r too lazy to get up to your laptop.... < insert whatever you feel here>

Those all come for free and as long as you order a brand new one, it definitely comes with it though they arn't listed on your invoice except for maybe the remote.

If you order from the outlet, you might get it, or you might not get it. It depends whether the previous owner included them or not.

Though if you do get a brand new one and you do not see those accessories, call up Dell and they should be able to take care of it. There are rare cases of brand new units not including those accessories, but... out of the two M1530's I've had, one of which is a replacement, all came with all the accessories. Remote is #1 imo.

They actually listed it as an option on of the system builder screens, that is why I ask. As far as being lazy I said I want to use this as a Blu-ray player with a TV so I don't see the laptop being any different than a standalone player. Do you throw away your regular DVD player remotes and get up and change them all manually? Also I am going to be doing this at work so I need to be able to turn it off fast when management walks in. :D

    lol

for mine, coudln't see an option to include the remote, unless u'r talking about some other remote(not expresscard size)
