    Hi,

I was wondering anyone here uses the U2 cooling pad with Dell XPS 17" laptop. I'd like to know how you place your laptop on the pad. There's two rubber stops at top corners and one along the bottom edge. Is the laptop supposed to be resting on the two corner rubber pieces only or all three? Because resting it on the two corner pieces only would make the laptop kind of slant with respect to the pad, whereas if it were resting on all three pieces the laptop would be parallel with the pad.

I know I'm probably nitpicking :p , but I'd just like know what's most effective for cooling purposes :D .

    I have that cooler,but with the XPS15.

I keep my battery unplugged, so that it sits flat on top of the cooler. I have it aligned such that the rear rubber feet on my XPS sits just inside the top corners. It helps with aligning my laptop to the fans, too.

Since you can move the fans around, why not just figure out what suits you best? If you have the 9-cell battery, I recommed removing it as it helps with aligning the laptop to the cooler better.

And if you can, remove the mesh filters on the inner side of the vents. It helps with air flow (but also allows more dust to get in, so youll have to clean it out more often).

    Hi Daver,

Thanks for the reply. I'm gather from what you're saying that it doesn't really matter how i place my laptop on the stand as long as the fans are in the right places.

As far as removing the battery, I choose not to only because I might forget where I store it :p . Thanks for the suggestion.

Precisely. Since these fans are movable, I think the best course of action is to determine what's the best "fit" with your laptop on top of the cooler, and then adjust the fans to point to the air intakes on the bottom of the laptop. You want to make sure that your laptop sits securely on top.

Good point, but I just leave my battery sitting right beside (right side) my laptop, so I always know it's there

For the 17", you'll want the U3. If you want one I have mine for sale /_\. I don't really like it since like someone said, you should remove your battery. If you don't it will be super elevated.
