Anyone have any recommendations for a coolpad that works well with the m1530 and is available in the UK? I recall people recommending targus pads but they aren't available over here that I can find.

    Thanks.

The Zalamn NC-1000 is an option, a cheaper option would be the Notepal infinite which you can get for £16 on play.com :)

Notepad infinite looks good to me--just out of stock at play. Can get it for £19 elsewhere, that's fine for me.

thanks for that! the pads I saw on ebay looked frightening.

Have a look at my review (in sig). Its not brilliant in terms of build and noise, but its sure does get the job done! :D

NC2000 is better for the 1530 than the 1000.

Too much over hang on the 1000 and less cooling effect

I use the 1000 and despite the fact that it is slighly narrower than the 2000 it cools just as well. All air intake under the M1530 are placed well within the 1000 airflow. :)

I beg to differ that it would have the same affect as a nc2000 for 6$ extra. Seeing as more space covred by the vents = more notebook cooled = cooler general temperature.

It's all about air intakes. The 2000 is only 10MM deeper than the 1000 which means both units do not offer direct airflow to the CPU/CPU intake located under the XPS logo at the top left. For all other air intakes the 2000 might be wider but it does not cover any more air intakes than the 1000 does. If nothing else both units use the same fans so in theory the 1000 as a stronger airflow than the 2000 because it's spread it over 679 vent holes instead of 928.

    Bigger is not always better.

Once again you should notice the fault in that. The zalman system of airflow equally distributes it you should still notice a small (sometimes very) drop in temperatures if the vents dont hit intake. It would also keep other components cool (ram which is quite a heater). Also that small drop is easily enough while your computer isnt under heavy load (games etc) to keep from the fan going off which is noticibly loud next to the Zalman

You just made my point.... If the Zalman system equally distributes the airflow across all vents then a smaller amount of vents equal a higher airflow per vents. Both the 1000 and 2000 use the same fans turning at the same speed so there's no ifs and no buts here.

For the sake of argument lets say the fans push 15CFM. The CFM per vent will be higher if there's less vents. So the 1000 would have a higher CFM (0.022) per vent than the 2000 (0.016). So any air intake (and components behind them) getting hit by the vents would get more airflow (higher CFM) from the 1000 than from the 2000.

Higher CFM usually results in better cooling...
