    Hi there....

Today I had my laptop stolen. I was in the College's library, by the reception, and while going to the toilet my laptop was stolen. Simple like that. No one knows, no one saw it. (sig's laptop). There is no CCTV in the College and the outside CCTV was off today............ any other advice???

    Good times...

anyway, the question is. What can i do to have my laptop back?? Is the College responsible for it? and Dell, can I report and have the tag black listed for further warranty issue?

fyi- I did a statement to the Dean, and tomorrow Im going to the police report the stolen item. Tomorrow i will have an answer from the Dean so id like to be prepared for it

    btw- no insurance.

    all the best
    Beto

You can report it to Dell and they will try to get information if the service tag is ever given to them for support.
Other than that, nothing but bad news unfortunately... if no one saw, it's probably gone.

No offense, but why would you walk off anywhere and leave your laptop unattended? For someone who is in college that is not a very bright move on your part. Always take your laptop with you when you are going to be away from it for a while. Also, why would the college be responsible for your negligence?

BTY - You should have reported the theft to the police immeadiatly, not the day after - though in fairness there is little they can really do.

As regards the college - They will accept no liability what so ever. You left it unaccompanied, therefore you're liable for not looking after it.

    Sorry about the loss.
