    USB not working on XPS M1530 after installing XP

    i just put XP on my 1530, and i cant seem to get any of the USB ports to work, or the wireless...it will detect my network, i log on to the network....says its acquiring signal...then nothing..any ideas?

    You need to download the Intel Chipset Utility from www.intel.com. Additionally, download from support.dell.com the Dell Notebook System Software (NSS) on the driver page for the M1530. That should get your USB ports working.

    After that, download from www.intel.com the WiFi drivers for your card. You could download the ones from Dell, but they will be older. Newer drivers from Intel's website will work better.

    i forgot i made this thread, but i finally got the wireless working. only thing is the USB!!! i tried the intel chipset, i reinstalled it multiple times. its installed, and i got the NSS from dell's site, and its still not working. this is what its showing. i REALLY need to fix this, i hate the touchpad, i need to use my mouse!!!!

    I'd start from scratch personally, I think you've messed up. You really have to install the chipset drivers first (before anything else), and I'd suggest using the ones in that package, plus following the readme to the dot.

    reinstalling is no problem, ill just backup my stuff. i guess thats what ill have to do.
