I underclocked from 400/600 to 100/150 and was wondering what this would do. I don't care about the video quality as I don't game at all anymore. And I'm hoping that the underclock will at least be capable of running some dvd videos. Any comments would help, thanks. And if there would be any issues underclocking this much.

Maybe save a little bit of battery life and a reduction in heat.

What did you use to underclock?

Hmm, how many minutes are you talking about? I found that my GPU was underclocked automatically depending on how much I used it. But if there are significant gains in battery life, I might as well go for it. If not, better not mess with factory settings.

nTune, you can download it off of nVidia's site. Underclocking option is under the GPU settings link in the sidebar.

Thanks, flipfire. Looks like I'm good to go, but yeah I did notice a drop in clock speeds when I wasn't do anything with it. But that confirms it. Btw, 41C is because of a cooling pad?

Yes theres a cooling pad, but that 8400m GS isnt from a XPS, its on a dv2500. Still the same gpu though.
