You might be wondering why i ask, well i get MS products for super cheap. What is the best way to upgrade from Vista Home to Vista Ultimate on my m1530? Should I just try the built in upgrade-anytime using my new copy of Ultimate? or should I install off of the DVD's and try that route? Id like to avoid a fresh install if at all possible.

    Hi bimmerguy2006,
You can go ahead and just upgrade to Vista Ultimate. When your upgrading from one vista version to another, the upgrade works very well. There are rare cases where some corruption can occur, but I'm sure you'll be just fine. If you were upgrading from XP to Vista, I would suggest a complete reinstall, as the chances for broken and corrupt files is greater.

    Hope this helps,
    Gabe

Just tacking on a question, if you upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate, will it leave any sort of junk files that Ultimate uses that Home Premium doesnt use? Will there be any registry keys or leftover files that you have to clean up yourself after?

Does having a laptop that you install Ultimate too perform better than if you buy Home Premium, then upgrade to Ultimate?
