    AFIAK, the Hitachi 500GB will not fit in most laptops. Most laptops take a 2.5" 9.5mm(height) HDD, the Hitachi 500GB is 12.5mm so it will probably not fit.

    Support.dell.com should have a service guide on how to replace the HDD aswell.

    Cheers mate. How about a thanks instead lol. Looks like it couldnt be any easier. Installed an X9000 yesterday. Think ill go for this HDD sooner or later and upgrade the memoryto 4 gig. Mission complete. Well until the next must have upgrade.
