Has anyone done this? Are there any guides out there? I watched the video on the Latitude but want to know about the XPS. I built a computer this summer and many older machines when I was in high school so I do have experience.
It seems totally work it to me, TigerDirect.ca has 2gb ram stick for under $50, so 4gb for $100 is a much better then Dell's 1 to 4 costing $300. The harddrive is basically the same, a $130 upgrade from a 120gb to 250. I can spend that $120 on a band new 250 gig from tigerdirect.ca and use the other as a portable.
I am about to order the laptop tonight (T7500, WXGA+, 8600m are the rest), unless anyone knows if the XPS systems on dell.ca are going on sale soon...
EDIT:
This is the ram ( http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3164196&CatId=150) and hdd ( http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3572106&CatId=1277) i was looking at. Its pretty much just an example. That is the correct ram to go with the XPS right?

Yup, both parts are supposed to fit.
It's really easy to change, under the laptop, there should be a HDD & a RAM door that you unscrew and change it. -
there's an instructional video on youtube.... jus type in XPS in the search...
