I currently own the L702X with 3D screen and I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade the N-1000 to the 6300. I do know that the 6300 can accommodate 3 antennae, but my only concern is that I don't have the 3 antennae and I'm not computer-savvy enough to check to see how many antennae I have. I do not have the TV tuner. If anyone could help me on this I would greatly appreciate it.

As Scott mentioned and shown us, it is possible for the N6300 to be installed as there are three wires available. However, I have not tried using the N6300 though...

I just confirmed on a second 3D capable L702x that (3) WLAN antenna leads were included in addition to (2) WWAN antenna leads so I would say most if not all L702x 3D systems will include all the antennas and leads you want/need. Therefore, yes, the 6300 will work fine in your L702x. Below is a picture of the system I looked at.

If you already have the 3 antenna then it is very simple. If not then typically when purchasing a 6300 they rarely come with the 3rd antenna.
Installing the third antenna can be tricky depending on how comfortable you are disassembling your laptop.
The antenna itself can be bought for $2 for example
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Wireless-Card-Mini-PCI-E-PCI-U-FL-UFL-Internal-Antenna-/280639496933?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41576ae2e5#ht_3100wt_1139
As you can see this is perfect in that it not only is the correct connecter for the card but also has a respectable size antenna itself. Be wary of the length of the antenna cable you purchase. Too long is better than too short.
You should run the cable through with the others under the right LCD hinge.
It can placed anywhere behind the LCD. I recommend in the centre so you have the full triangulation. You will probably want to tape it down.
It's roughly a 45minute job to install the 3rd antenna.

If that sounds like alot of work you can always buy the antenna and place it somewhere else away from the others , ie under the palm rest although I can't personally vouch for performance levels you will have a fully functioning 6300 capable of 450mpbs. Perhaps someone else could explain any issue in doing such a thing

    EDIT
Wouldn't recommend installing it behind the LCD as it is very technical it does involve alot of disassembly of the laptop. I think there may be USB adapters that are capable of 450mpbs although that is the only advantage of the 6300. VERY few routers support that speed and the ones that do are very expensive. I would recommend you upgrade to a TP-Link TL-WN861N instead as they are great cards as it sounds as it would more than suit your needs for a very reasonable price

    Hi guys,
    Thank you for this topic.
I have the same XPS 17 with FHD and no 3D (mate).
Regarding your instructions I open my laptop and find that any wwan card is not installed.
Also I don't find any antennas itegrated into it.
It's no a big problem - I can find antennas in my city.
I will be apriciated if some one can tell me what lenght of this antenna should be?
Can some one show image of original position of antenns?
If I can collect all this data - I can manually install them into laptop by myself.

Next I decide to buy wwan card but I don't know what exactly I can insert into this wwan slot.
Regarding this official page I can instal into l702x only two different cards:
Mobile Broadband Options: (WWAN) (not available on 3D panel)
Dell Wireless 5540 HSPA mobile broadband* mini card
Dell Wireless 5620 EVDO-HSPA mobile broadband* mini card

I try to find this original card in dell store and here it is link.

In my country where I live I coudn't buy in basic shop this card.
So I decide to go and take a look into ebay.
I find a lot of cards used and unused and with this a lot of questions.
This original card who should be is "Dell Gobi2000 UN2420 2G 3G WWAN Wireless Card GPS 5620" .
Who can tell me what differense between this 2 lots below
1st have full parts: 3g card, disc, Antenna x2, screw x2.
But if this original card like on screenshot? What tipe of antenna included into this?
2nd have only card, but screenshot of the top cover is different. Is this the same card?
and why some one tell like "the driver is not same with the 5620,you can contact with us for driver." this is not original card and
this mean that I can't install original drivers from dell site for this card? bad copy or fake?

Also who know can tell me if I install another version of 3g modem based on Gobi 3000 like
Gobi3000/DELL5630 or HUAWEI EM680/Gobi3000 How do you think Bios will detect those cards?

I will be appreciate if someone can give me the answers!
