    Hey there,

I need a quick and good response as I'm really busy with university work and thought it would be easier to make a thread than post in the big m1730 thread and lose my response.

I want to upgrade my dual 8700 cards to dual 8800s and I live in NSW, Australia (in a non-major city). I was wondering if somebody could provide me with some of the following information.

    1. Who or where do I call to get the upgrade?
    2. How much does it cost? (Has anyone else in Aussie done this?)
    3. Can I upgrade other parts at the same time? (eg, perhaps newer CPU .. and the price if it's possible)
    4. How long will it take to upgrade? Do I have to post it in? Does postage cost extra or will they include that in the upgrade fee? Or can I take it into a shop in Sydney (or Brisbane?)
    5. Can I get them to look at other things like the light leakage problem on my screen?

    That's all for now.

While some of these are a little self explanatory, cant help to have someone talk you through it :)

1- Dell. 1800-812-393 (according to the website)
2- I wouldnt know what they chagre in oz
3- yes, but you would most likely not buy those through Dell.. everything major in the 1730 is modular and upgradeable, and your laptop is a breeze to disassemble and a pleasure to do so... No annoying hidden screws like VAIOs.
4- If you do it yourself? 45 min at most. If you Send it in to someone? a week at most. Could you take it to a shop? Sure, but they'll charge harshly for it.
5- You should call Dell and complain about that. If you're still under warranty they might replace the display.

Here's the service manual btw: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xpsm1730/en/sm/index.htm
