Now I come from a fairly noobular old skool perception that desktops are for upgrading and notebooks are for... um, not upgrading.

Although from looking on here, it seems more and more like this isn't the case. I see people talking about upgrading their notebooks with newer processors, making provisions for the 8800 if it arises....

Is this the case with the m1530? And what does it entail? Woes with screwdrivers, nerves and sweat?

Asking now for the future just in case, knowledge is power and all.

You can upgrade the 1530 and it is not hard to do at all. If you go to dell support site they walk you through the process of opening up the system

Yes, just checked support and it all seems fairly painless when it comes to RAM, HDD, CPU if I so desire.

I didn't really buy it to be a high spec gaming machine anyhoo, although the functionality being there is handy. I've got a PS3 for the games for now!

But if prices of parts come down in the future, its nice to know I can give the unit a facelift if I need to.
