    Hi people,

As usual my crazy hands at work..

I was checking out some drivers for the intel wireless wifi 4965AGN.. then while uninstalling the driver from device manager, by mistake I clicked on the box that says ' delete related software' or something similar.. :( :( How stupid of me.

How do i get this back??? Now when I turn on the wireless hardware switch obviously I dont see anything.. neither do I see the list in the devices.. :( can someone please help me out ASAP???

Btw, will this be in the dell driver n diagnostics cd?? or should I do a complete pc restore (because I have a complete pc backup)...

Hope I wouldnt have to go that far.. :( :(

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    support.dell.com
put ur notebook service tag and search the utility

oh! and if u can only connect via wireless, windows can manage ur networks the same way, its somewhere in the properties of the wireless icon in the connection option in the control panel, (it says "let windows manage my connections"...) i just cant tell u exactly cuz im not in my laptop.

edit: seems i cant find it in support.dell.... but... windows manager is nice :) will do fine

Better yet, use the driver/software directly from Intel for the 4965... Last updated on 8/1/08. Much more recent than Dell's driver...

ah ok.. I used the drivers n utilities CD to get it back...

And the problem was I had tried the new wireless drivers from Intel, the latest ones, as mentioned by batboy too..

But using these driver to update, I lost bluetooth functionality.. I could not see the bluetooth icon anymore neither did bluetooth start upon turning on the wireless hardware switch.. the wireless was working fine though.. so I wanted to rollback to the old driver but still did not see the bluetooth functioning.. then I decided to uninstall this new driver form Intel... thats when I made the mistake of uninstalling the software too...

So once i went back to the drivers n utilities CD, I got the wireless software back and the I had to uninstall bluetooth and reinstall it all over again...

    Now its all working fine..

People using the new drivers form Intel on XPS M1530 would want to check their bluetooth functionality as soon as you install it... *I dont know if this problem was related to the new driver, but before I never had any problem with bluetooth or never did I lose it completely* So I would guess some conflict or connections b/w these...

Anyone who use these new drivers please do let us know how it goes.. thanks

    Cheers.

I am using the current driver from Intel for the 4965. No issues with Bluetooth here. Maybe a 1530 issue? Hmmmm...

Glad to know its working for you..

Probably.. thats why I said its probably with this machine.. it would be nice if someone with a XPS M1530 lets us know.. and then I can figure out if its just me and if I messed something up..

But for sure, I lost bluetooth functionality first time since I got this comp the moment I updated to this new driver.. I have gone back to dell now, as I said, and now both are fine... I could try again of course, but No thanks :) It was quiet a pain to restore it back and all the mess :)

Just curious, but before you did what you did to restore your functionality, did you try this:

    1. Install 4965 driver from Intel's site.
    2. Noticed problem with bluetooth. Uninstalled bluetooth software via CP. Reboot.
    3. Reinstall Dell bluetooth software

Not that it matters, but I wonder if that would've fixed your issue while still allowing you to make use of an updated driver. Also, I wonder if somehow your WiFi switch setting in Quickset became jumbled and it was just a matter of setting it again in the Quickset Radios menu. Hmmm... So many possibilities... ;) Glad its working though.

I was thinking like this too, just like you said.. but no, it didnt work.. and then the mess happened.. by mistake I removed it.. but anyways last time around I got in both from dell drivers n utilities disc and now everything is fine..

I really dont know what happened, but I am guessing its because of the new driver.. it may not. have to take a look again but I am pretty annoyed right now to even think I have to do it all over again from the disc :)

I am using the new Intel 4965 driver on my 1530, no bluetooth issues at all.
Having said that, I only updated the drivers and did not mess with the Pro Wireless software.
