Guys, i had dual boot (Vista Ultimate and XP) in my system. somehow i had to reinstall vista again. so literally xp boot menu gone. i normally know how to recover xp as i did many times b4. but this time after being recovered xp with VistaBootPRO 3.3 i did some changes like rename the OS to Windows XP Professional and put it up of vista (Up arrow clicked as it was in 2nd position). then pressed apply updates. so when i restart my xp is not working. it shows me something like c://ntldr missing

i have tried to recover console (bootcfg /rebuild as i have found while i was searching net). but i couldn't get to there, it was asking me to put the Admin password. but to the best of my knowledge i didn't put any password. so living it blank i pressed enter but nop....it was keep asking me bloody password.

guys is there any1 who could help me in a normal way. it's really frustrating. plz help me.........

that's a common problem when your boot record gets corrupted, you get the ntldr missing, it can be a bit_h!! to fix.

Renaming things probably didn't help things, you may have an entry somewhere w/ the old file name, so it just hoses your system.

can you just skip the password, thats a xp fluke if I remember right?

I'll do a little more checking.

On another line of thought, did your sys come w/ Vista SP2 or did you upgrade to it. Is it x64 or x86. The reason I ask is that I need a replacement Dell Ultimate x64 sp2 disk from Dell, but I need the part number from the bottom of the "reinstallation disk". They are confused about which one I need, duh.........Thanks
