I've read everywhere that the notebook coolers are useless. Knowing that Antec makes good hardware, I ordered Antec USB Notebook cooler from Amazon (paid only $5 after coupons).
It is very well made with aluminum cover and has a nice design. The fans of this units lines up well with the middle of the computer where it normally gets warm/hot. I've been using it for the last week all day at work and then at home. I actually like this very much. The bottom of the computer is just luke warm now. I am running the fan at the low speed.
Most importantly, I am monitoring the temps with Everest and my average GPU temp went down to 60-62 C from 65-67. I am using the LOW setting on the cooler; you can spin them even faster with the added noise of course.
Now, I am asking myself why these are considered garbage by so many? I am sure you have to find a good match since each cooler has a different design, fan placement etc, and each laptop has different locations for CPU, GPU, fans, etc.
Would love to hear some opinions on this.
Cheers!

Unfortunately bad rep tends to stick and word of mouth tends to exaggerate, which in the end makes one bad product turn into the whole class of products. In other words its the "one bad apple" theory. That's my take on it anyway. -
I think the debate is whether they are necessary. I think all agree that they do lower temperatures though. Just propping up the back of your laptop of the desk also lowers temperatures.

The Antec was horrible for mine, but grats it worked well for you
