Just a thought. When I suspect possible malware infection I would prefer to do an anti-virus scan from outside Windows. e.g. from USB or CD. This is to minimize the chance that a rootkit manages to hide from it.
Trouble is the boot USB anti-virus programs usually don't stay updated and it is a nuisance to do that.
I was wondering if I could run msert.exe from the Dell Media Direct boot??
Of our malware might infect that too but I guess it would be superior to running it from within Windows as I usually do.
