    Tom,

That 90w WILL NOT WORK for XPS 13.

Ultrabooks (consumer line) uses the new thinner and smaller 4.5mm power jack. What you see in that link is the standard Dell size.

You need an ultrabook charger, unfortunately.

    Thanks Dellienware.

Is that 90watt adapter they referred compatible with XPS 13 works with Dell Studio XPS 1340? Just curious.

OK, I believe I've got the right AC adapter (45W) for my Ultrabook to buy.

Take a quick look (see link) and give me your blessing. I'm only asking since they did not mention the build no(9343) in their compatibility list.

    @Dextrosen.

I'm not a computer techie, so can you explain how this dongle works with a 90 watt adapter.

Do I buy this dongle+90w adapter stated in my original post. Connect the dongle to the 90W and to the laptop? Dell is advertising this dongle on their website also.

Have you tested this dongle with the 90 watt?

    Thanks.
    Tom.

    Hi Tom,

I believe the dongle works exactly like that - you can use the larger 90W adapter with the smaller laptops like XPS 13. I did not test it however so I cannot guarantee that the 90W adapter you found is compatible with the 2015 XPS 13. Here is a DELL website for the dongle:

The question comes down to, whether it will actually charge faster.

Would love a feedback when you get to test it bud.

    This is the Op.

I do have a 2 year old 15'' Dell Latitude E5530 that uses the 90W adapter. The bulky version(not the new slim-down 90W currently being advertise by dell). I'll buy just the dongle and give it a shot.

If it works, I buy the new 90w and have a backup adapter for my Dell Latitude and XPS 13.

    Worst case I'm out $13.00.

    Tom

PS: Really appreciated your help – Thanks.

Correction. My current 90W adapter has 3 prongs. Will not work. The dongle advertised is circular.

The dongles (adapter) I am seeing are only few-couple bucks on Ebay btw. I am really tempted to try to see if higher watt provides faster charging speed...
