Hello there,
I was doing some work on my Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit on the XPS m1330 laptop and when i decided to restart, i got the no bootable device found message.
I ran diagnostics, no errors found.
When i put in the vista ultimate disc and NOT press anything. It will boot into windows.
When I do not have it in. It will tell me no bootable device found.
The hard drive does show in device info in bios.
Im running the chkdsk c: /f /r from command prompt in vista repair thing.
Any ideas as to what this might be?
I wonder what message i will get after i complete the chkdsk.
Would reinstalling windows as a whole fix this problem?

Sounds like the bootloader got hosed. Run a repair from the Vista CD. That outta fix it. No need to reinstall Winderz...
EDIT: First check to make sure you have the correct boot options in the BIOS and then make sure you dont have another drive connected via USB. -
Did you by any chance press the mediadirect button ? It tends to do that sometimes
-
Startup repair says there are no problems and i dont have many options.
-
or Just Pop a Vista DVD and get into Recovery Console Mode
then type
Code:Bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot
-
Didn't know if it was a time consuming thing to do so i put it off for later with SUCCESSFUL results!
Worked!
Any ideas on what to might have cause this? -
sometimes if I've left a flash drive or external usb disk plugged in, I get this.
-
this also happens to me whenever i leave a flash drive in

OP: Glad you got it working. -
