Can you upgrade? Like a trade in program?

I suppose if you're under your 30 days and could come up with a valid reason, you could try to return your Vostro. But I'll bet the XPS will still cost an easy $300-400 more than you paid for your Vostro.

Why can't you be happy with what you've got? When will it end? As soon as you get the XPS, something better will come along.

In short, the Vostro's are black Inspiron's (that may have changed today, as the Vostro 1500's twin, the Inspiron 1520, has been replaced by the 1525) . They are solid, bulky, heavy, good value machines, but are not known for quality.

The XPS 1330 and 1530 are slim, lightweight, stylish, premium machines that appear to have higher quality than Vostro/Inspiron's (the 1330 had a lot of quality problems at first), but still have less quality than the Latitude and Precision business lines.

I can't speak about the XPS 1730, which is in its own category.

What do you want to use the computer for? In many cases, the differences between the Vostro and 1530 are going to be marginal at best, and not worth an extra 100$, let alone a few hundred.
