I use my XPS downstairs for everyday use but bring it up to my computer desk and plug into my monitor for gaming. I have an A/C adapter from my work laptop, a Vostro 1700, can this be used with an XPS?

I'm at work so I can't check the power ratings on the 2 but just wondering, if so I could leave one plugged in upstairs and leave the other one down.

    thanks

I just used an adapter from the vostro 1500 for about a couple of hours, it was the 65W Adapter and still worked, being that yours is from the Vostro 1700, Its probably the 90W adapter.

In that case, you should be fine.

Either way, between the 65W and the 90W, they should both work.

It does use the 90 watt power supply. You could always try but you might not get enough juice for it since it has a larger screen.

i use 90 watt ac adapter at home, and 65 watt dc adapter, i had purchased for xps m140 (before the lappy was stolen from my truck). It charges my battery and have never seen performance hit.
