Hi guys, I actually ordered an asus (don't hate lol) g51vx-a1 with a 15.6" LED 1080p screen, since you guys seem knowledgeable I was wondering how many manufacturers of 15.6" LED 1080p screens there were and maybe comment on the quality of them. Thanks

My asus g51vx-a1 has the AUO B156HW01 v.5 WLED LCD. It has some cheap bleeding. Here are some pictures.

I have the LG 1080p 15.6" in my studio 1555 and it is the best screen I have ever owned.
I have the AU Optronics 1080p 15.6" in my sxps and it is also very good but not quite in the same league as the LG (still amazing though I was just spoilt by the LG)

Wait, so you got a 16" 1080p WLED, instead of the 15.6" WLED?

no, DELL said from start that i will get the 16" WLED 1080p screen....its really awesome screen i must say.

when they "replace" something they (always) replace it with same size, etc.....

Does the AUO one have backlight bleed, shaped like a bell or hill where the middle to bottom portion looks greyish and washed out? I just got my asus in and it has that kind of bleed. Does the LG one have the same bleed? I'm thinking about replacing the screen.

Actually if you are going with 1080p Dell Studio 1555 it is most likely LG then since AUO doesnt make 1080p 15.6 WLED display .. its only LG or maybe samsung. See this website ... this shows what all AUO makes .. and nothing 15.6 http://auo.com/auoDEV/products.php?sec=notebook&func=items&items_id=2&ls=en
    LG 1080p for 1555 is most likely LP156WF1 - see page http://www.lgdisplay.com/homeContain/jsp/eng/prd/prd300_j_e.jsp

So i dont understand why people are saying it could be AUO or LG (i am talking about WLED 1080p display only).

(updated - i think the website is wrong .. AUO doesnt update its website properly - thanks to the replies, and further research i did, its pretty bad to see a company keeping customers in dark. Information should be open. )

^False. My girlfriend's Studio 1555 has an AUO 1080p WLED display panel. Their own site is just not updated.

thanks, even on the other thread i updated my post. Its pretty bad to see AUO not updating their websites .. i think you are all right, they do make 15.6 panels, just that they dont update their websites .. sorry for the confusion. The confusion persists ....

Ok I really like the panel except for the BLEED, what i call the BBB or Bestbuy bleed. Many of the bestbuy pc notebooks exhibit the same type of light bleed. I even notice there is light bleed from the left and right corners of the screen along with the bleed from the bottom. Also I returned a HP dv4t because it has the exact same type of bleed and it was an LED screen. My hardware ID is AUO15ED. Can anyone take a picture with their camera of their AUO with a black background and LG with a black background please? I would replace the screen myself in a heartbeat if the LG has no bleed and no other issues.

bump anyone? snapshot of your AUO or LG with a dark background please

    someone must have a camera

Here is a picture of the bleeding im talking about. The model is AUO B156HW01 v.5, is that the same one dell uses?

So I need to know if any of you AUO or LG owners have the same bleed pattern

I got studio 1555 with AUO 1080p 15.6 , its truly nice, and yes possibly the best LCD i ever owned. Do you mean that this BLEED that you are seeing is only with camera or is it with naked eyes too. I have used lot of black backgrounds, i dont see a bleed, atleast with naked eyes. I will check by taking photos, usually photos are a wrong way of checking, since there are lot of settings that affect a photograph.

Is this the bleed that is in photo, an exact replication of what you see on your screen ?

How did you get 16'' WLED 1080p screen? I can only see 15.6'' WLED 1080p and 16'' RGBLED 1080p on dell's sites. Are you sure yours is 16'' and WLED?

Ok here it is Malignant , i have uploaded photos of my AUO studio 1555 1080p LCD , I dont see any BLEED, as i said its possibly your camera settings. If you see that with naked eye then i would say its a problem, otherwise dont trust on camera, No camera takes photos of LCD that well.

In cotrol panel->system->device manager->monitors->details->hardware ids. This will show you the panel ID. you can then google that to find out. SEC means samsung, LPL is LG and so on.

And if that doesn't work you'll need to install Lavasys Everest (google).
