Anyone have a side-by-side comparison (chart, pictures, anything) of the two screen types available on the Studio XPS 16? I'd be interested to see the difference, and my local Best Buy doesn't have ANY 16s so it's not possible for me.

yea everyone is saying that the RGBLED is so amazing but where are the comparison pictures to prove this? i myself would like to know also

You cant see how good it is unless your in person. The picture will not look as good on your monitor because its not a RGB screen -
So unless I order one with an RGBLED screen, or know someone that does, I'll never know the difference lol

Pretty much lol. If your willing to take my word thow its amazingly bright on even lowest setting and the colors are vibrant -
I fully believe you, and all the other people that have said so...but going from my 1720's screen to the studio xps 16's screen I'm sure will look better to me anyways!

lol. I went from the standard M1330 screen to this and its drop dead gergous better then my 37 inch 1080p samsung
-
Haha that's cool...I suspect I will also have better battery life, maybe a little cooler temperature, and certainly a lighter, thinner notebook despite only losing the 1" screen size...I think I'm losing something like 2 pounds in the transition, and definitely going to a better performing machine.

Cool. If you have the RGB screen expect only 2:40 mins on Balanced settings. and screen on lowest settings. If you have the other one youll get about 3:30. This is on a 6 cell. The RGB Drinks the battery
-
I've got the WLED screen, and it comes with a 6 cell...but I picked up a 9 cell too since they're only 80 bucks right now. Doubt that'll happen again!

So expect 4 - 4:45 mins i would think -
Sorry to semi-hijack this thread but I was thinking of this very same thing. My budget is tight, but the differences between both screen types (the RGBLED on the dell and a WLED from HP) were noticeable even on youtube playing in SD and being viewed on a 5 year old laptop at 1024x768... you get my point. lol
Due to my restraints, i guess I'll have to go for the WLED for the time being. But dell displays the WLED option as a 15.6 screen. Won't that look a bit weird on a 16" chasis? -
There are photos of the 15.6" screen on the 16" chassis in this thread here. Basically, the part that's not taken by the LCD is black plastic.
-
Thanks alot for that info! Just saw them. I can live with that screen easily. lol -
pictures will be pointless as the screen ur using is going to determine what the picture looks like anyway... so if u dont have a 100% color accurate screen u won't see a difference
-
Lol exactly. It is the same as if your buddy said "Man you should see HD TV on my new 1080P screen, it is so clear!" you "Really? Here I get HDTV on my Standard TV, Let me see..."
-
LOOOLL!! You guys.... lol.
-
Any1 know how the blacks and contrast compare on the RGBLED and WLED? I've seen confirmations that the WLED has more accurate colors than the RGBLED, but what about the blacks/contrast?
-
On the topic of blacks/contrast, I'm a bit disappointed that these screens don't have local dimming. Some of the pricier LED HDTVs have local dimming (where pixels can turn off to get closer to "true black").
I'm not sure on the contrast differences between the screens, though. For some reason, I reckon the WLED would have higher contrast, but don't quote me.

You guys are making me think twice about the 15.6" screen I ordered. lol. But i'll stick with it anyway. Nonetheless, the RGB is just stunning. But since I've never seen one in reality before, and will be ignoring every SXPS16 owner with oneKSMB said: ↑well, i can say one thing about Studio xps 16" RGB screen. i have never seen a screen with this colours.....they are just amazing. (i have right now the WLED screen, and its not same amazing colours, (it still good, but RGB screen have thicker, more crispy colours...no doubt about that)
sometimes i regrets myself changing to wled, (have seen a few SXPS RGB screens lately with very good settings)Click to expand...
, i should live. i'll just wait till other notebooks come out with the same option and cheaper ones of course. Say, the RGB Drinks battery for sure, but does it make the pc any hotter? Any experience?

Sorry for reviving a dead thread, but is this true? Wouldn't the only difference be that RGBLED has coloured LED's? Or are there more of them as well?Brendanmurphy said: ↑Cool. I have no real knowledge, this is why I am asking.
