    Hi,

Is it possible to use Wake On LAN with the M1730?

I've tried to look through the BIOS and there isn't specifically a option for it but it does mention in the NIC section Enable with "PXE" or "RPL". I've google a fair bit and can't find a solution so hence the new thread.

Ideally I'd like to connect via the wireless adaptor Intel 4965AGN from a hibernate state (or maybe sleep state).

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,
    72oo

    BUMP

Any suggestions on how to remotely wake the laptop are appreciated.

At the moment, I think I'm going to have to use the laptops BIOS based daily wake option to wake at noon and then schedule a automatic shut down at midnight, or something like that. Not ideal by any means, as I'll be eating electricity when not using the laptop.

    72 -

I'm taking a stab in the dark here since I don't know specifically what you are trying to do... I'm thinking what you are looking at is having the 1730 in a sleep state and have another system on your LAN send the wakeup call to the 1730... is that about it?

Remember seeing the Advanced Settings tab in the Device Manager for the Broadcom card? MagicPacket is one of the options under Wakeup Capabilities.

    Now reference this page:

Also you should look over these pages - you might find a utility which can help with this:
