It means that you should change your laptop's thermal paste that has been applied in the factory.

You should repaste both the CPU and GPU.

    Repasting improves overall system temperatures.

Nice vids, I'm impressed with the discrete card - it's not amazing of course (it's not a 580), but it exceeded my expectations!

Unless you've got temps in the 90's then you dont need to do a repaste. And temps have little affect directly effecting the games performance. Yes it can effect the card which in turn effects the game but not directly. And thats unlikely anyway.

would update all drivers (most importantly the nvidia drivers) before thinking about repasting

you can get a few more frames from bf3 by choosing custom options...

on a gt540m or below I wouldn't suggest playing on a resolution hgiher than 1366*768 (still better than a console)

    turn off antialiasing (deferred version)

put post-process antialiasing on "high" to smooth out images without any performance impact

turn off vsync (will cause screen tearing but also improves overall responsiveness)

turn off motion blur (is about a 5fps hit when it's on, and realistically doesn't give any improvement to image quality)

make sure ambiant occlusion is set to SSAO or OFF, HBAO is too much of an impact to these cards (including my gt555m)

can keep texture quality on "high", shadows and mesh quality on "medium" or "low" and then play around with the others to find what's good for you

with a mix of medium and high settings am getting around 40fps on 1600*900 on an overclocked gt555m

With my GT540m and i5-2410m I barely get 30 fps in lowest settings at 1280x720 (this is BF3), I was wondering how being connected to wifi affected my framerate while in game, it doesn't really make sense to me!
