I don't game but I figured I would go ahead and do it since I am in the 21 day grace period.
Any simple software/ rough instructions would be great. And I will rep. Thanks!

Great free demo to help you stress:
http://www.worldinconflict.com/splash/index.html
Freeware program to keep track of your temperatures:
http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
Run the benchmark, play the demo, see if your game lags a lot. Check your HWMonitor temperatures while running the game also with Ant+Tab to see if the temperature fluctuates a lot.
If there are major fluctuations that go on while the game is running, then you probably have a defective graphics card. If not... you should be good. You might also want to play the game itself for a few hours just to make sure. If the game slows down rapidly after a couple of hours... somethings definitely wrong with the GPU. -
I like Furmark (for GPU stress) and wPrime (multicore CPU support).
These won't stress the HD, which IMHO is a good thing.

Those work too, though it is still good to run a real game of some sort just so you have some realtime usage stats. Most people will be gaming more than they would using a benchmark for GPU stress.

Try CPU Burn-in.
For GPU use this http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/ -
I concur with atbnet, GPU burn in benchmarking is really good with:

It really tops the rest. -

Hey Forte, I tried the top link, it wouldn't load? -

I love this GPU stresser, thank you! I repped ya for it.
-
Really all you need to do is run 3dmark05 or 06 like 4 or 5 times in a row and that should give your computer a good stress test all around because it does both cpu and gpu tests.

Can I really screw up my system? -
Here's a download link for World In Conflict Demo:
http://files.filefront.com/World+in+Conflict+Demo/;8391048;/fileinfo.html
Just click "Download Now".
The link I provided requires Macromedia Flash to load, but the above link should give you no problems at all.
As for 3D Mark, I do not recommend it at all simply because it really isn't as accurate as you may think. For one thing, it really isn't something that you'd use to "break in your GPU", it just does testing. Not to mention the software is actually something you have to buy, though they do have a free version available, it really won't do you any good in terms of trying to stress out your GPU to see if its defective or not. -

Well I watched about 10 minutes of a DVD, the highest the GPU got was 68C.
How is that temp? -
DVD seriously is not going to do much as an indicator. Really.
Temperature wise, 68 degrees is normal.
Though I still highly recommend installing the demo I linked you too or play some other graphics intensive game to see if the game suddenly slows down after a couple of hours of playing.
Watching a DVD is not really demanding. -

But thanks to everyone for the great info, I might use it later on down the road. -
That's not very high at all. You should be alright.
Want to stress my M1530.... need the software.
