Dell has had this "signature event" thing going on for a few days - Because of a substantial savings that it offered, I picked up the XPS 1645 on the first day. I have one already, and have been using it with TS and the 130W power supply with great success. Anyhow, today I see that Dell has the brand new 1647 on sale, and it's starting at a cool $1200 in Canada. I was actually tempted on cancelling my 1645 order, but then I got to the warranty page and noticed that the cost of the on-site / complete care warranty seem to go through the roof compared to before...Is there are reason for this, or is Dell just pulling numbers out of its ???

Same as the 1645 if you look at the 1645 at 1499 and click on the 3 years it jumps to 1756 plus 260 for the onsite so 517 plus the 99cent on both 519 same as the 1647 on the old 1530's it was 419 for the 3years complete care at home service. so +100$ it's getting up there bot I take it any way and use it.

Agreed...Laptops are portable, and that introduces too many variables and opportunities for damage. I probably wouldn't do it for a desktop, but for a laptop it's definately useful.

Thanks, I didn't notice the price go up as I drilled down for the 1645....I cancelled my order and ordered the 1647 with the new ATI 5730 mobile card....

Shipping date is expected next month (as in february)
