How reliable are these? Would you say it is a good decision to have more than a 1 yr warranty? Have alot of you guys used your warranty?

i have used the accidental damage part twice (friend dropped my m1330 and broke the hinge, and another time i spilled water on the keyboard and the keyboard acted up

both times dell wanted me to send to depot to check for other damage and replace the parts, but i said screw the 10 day turnaround and send the parts to me and i'll replace them myself)

the actual warranty, i've used once... the dvd drive died... dell tech came over the next day(after going on dell chat to request replacement) and replaced the drive(replacing the dvd drive for the m1330 requires disassembling the entire machine, probably why they sent a tech)

[in the US, warranty for XPS systems should be Next-Business Day(NBD) on-site repair]

the config i set up when i bought the m1330 had 3 yr warranty and acc damage as default and was at a good price, that's why i bought it(with an upgrade to 4 yrs)

if you have not bought your m1730 yet, look around, sometimes different configs give you more warranty for a slightly higher price.... if you already have your m1730, either take really good care of it(no water around it, and never let your friends touch it :D) or extend the warranty (the warranty should not cost more than 25% of the laptop cost... more than that, the cost to buy a new laptop when the m1730 breaks down in a few years is less than the money you would spend on warranty)

the absolute best investment you will ever make when buying a dell, max it out with cc. yeah, it is very expensive i know, but 100% worth it

I got both the 3 year Warranty & Accidental on my 1530..and am very happy that I did. I think it's worth the cost vs the lifetime of your lappy! :D

    Cin ;) :)

I chose for the 4 year warranty. No accidental warranty, because it rarely leaves the house and stays put in my study. The risk of damaging my system is acceptable this way.

The more warranty the better! This comes from personal experience with my XPS 1730.
