The problem is in GTA IV im trying to use a enb series mod which relies on a d3d9_dll file to launch the mod. But the d3d file is only picking up the intel gpu rendering the game unplayable with this mod (due to the intel gpu lack of power) regardless of gta iv gpu selection in nvidia control panel. Its a application extension so the control panel wont pick it up. So is there a way to force the intel gpu off completely so it will use the 555m?

You can't disable intel Gpu because it is in charge of sending signal to the screen. The nvidia gpu is not (and it can't be) connected to the screen directly, it send data to the Intel gpu, and then you see it.

Dont know if it will work, but you can try to stick an external Monitor to your laptop by using the hdmi Port. Imho it is directly connected to the Nvidia Card and not linked to the Intel GPU which is indicated by the Nvidia Icon is being activated when your hooking up an hdmi device. MAYBE everything will be forced to work on the Nvidia GPU.

    What Jubel said will work.
But to turn off the intel GPU you'll need to do it in BIOS. Now before you say anything, i know the option is not there because it's hidden.

Somebody should modify the BIOS to reveal these options and you'll be good to go. Try posting a request over at bios-mods.com

Thanks for your help everyone, the external display is a good idea, didnt think of that. Yeah we need a updated bios with this option really.

the BIOS option wouldn't work either (even if it was there), unfortunately the screen is directly connected to the intel GPU, if that was disabled/turned off then you'd litterally get no image.

the nvidia card sends the image to the intel card which then outputs to the screen, it's not like normal "switchable graphics" ;-/

but yeah, connecting directly to an external monitor/tv will work fine as the HDMI out is directly linked to the NVIDIA GPU.

Dam, yeah thought it might be something like that stopping it. I guess i'll have to wait untill an enb optimus compatible mod gets released unless someone can hex edit the d3d9 file.
