Last summer dell replaced my motherboard and since then, my webcamera stopped working. It cannot be found on device manager and the blue light next to it stopped blinking when my system is booting.
Thus, I guess that the technicial forgot to connect the camera cable on my mtherboard. Does anybody know how I can connect it? Owner's manual doesn't mention anything about the camera...
I have tried to install the drivers and the support software but then when I run Dell Webcam Center I get the message "No supported webcamera detected. Please plug in to continue..."

Remove the touch button console, then the keyboard and look to see if any of the cables coming from the lcd are unattached or loose.

my camera disconnects and reconnects if I apply any pressure to it. It didn't use to do that.

I opened it up and found disconnected 3 cables and another one suspect for being broken. The three disconnected cable where coming from the right side of the laptop as you hold it upside down and were ending in the wireless cards areas close to the wwlan. Two others that were coming from the same side were connected to the wireless card. So if the wwlan card uses 3 cables, there is nothing wrong. But it sounds strange that the wlan uses 2 cables and the wwlan 3. Anyway, there were not other slots close to there.
The other one was coming from the left side and was ending it the centre of the MB writing something like VGA CCD (DT2). This had several really small cables ending up on a socket which was finally connected to a MB slot. One of these cables (very thin) was not stuck on that socket. Either it was broken or it was like that on purpose. Although I tried to connect it, it was not possible. Could that be the case?
I would love it if I had this technical document that the Dell technical staff use!! Otherwise if somebody that really knows which is the cable that connects the camera I would really appreciate it to tell me! -
Ok the camera is connected at 2 locations:
1) on the camera, you have to remove the LCD bezel to access it. It goes by pressure but be careful of not breaking it.
2) below the keyboard, to localize you better is aimed to the left click button, going up from there, to the middle of the where is the keyboard located.
Now you will need to reseat the cable that is below the keyboard, that is what might be loose. I jsut advice you to be careful with the Central Cover since is very fragile and you might break it.
I would better recommend that you call Dell so they send a technician to check it out. -

Yeah, that's the difficult part of the story, as I bought this laptop in Greece and now I live in the Netherlands. I work so it is difficult to arrange it. While Greek support team could visit me at my place, I heard that in the Netherlands, you have to send them your laptop...If it like that it sucks as I will have to be without a laptop for sometime. I will investigate it further...

Hi there, have you had any success so far?
I too had the problem of my webcam not working after i had a motherboard replacement.
I found the solution to be simple, the tech had simply forgot to reconnect the wire to the mobo!
Here is a link to my original post, i hope it helps you. -

Web Camera not found (XPS M1330) - Probably cable disconnected - Any ideas please?
