    Hi,

I've noticed (yet another) strange problem with my XPS 1340. I'll be listening to audio through headphones (only noticed it when iTunes was open - not always playing though) when every few hours or so, a mid-pitched honking / buzzing noise, at most a couple seconds in duration, will sound. I've only had the laptop a couple weeks or so, and it's happened maybe a half dozen times so far. I've never heard the noise coming from the speakers, only the headphones plugged into the front jacks.

Anyone else ever had this problem? I'm starting to get frustrated with this recent acquisition...

I had a similar problem with mine. Plug some external speakers through the headphone jack while running on battery power. Turn the volume up to what you consider a loud level while listening to music. Now turn off the music and plug in your power supply. If you hear a static sound coming through when you connect the power supply, then you have a faulty power supply. They replaced mine and the static sound disappeared. Not sure if this is the same problem you are experiencing but hope this info helps.

    Okay, here's the spec:

    XPS 1340
    Core 2 Duo P8800
    IDT Integrated Audio
    nVidia 210m Hybrid SLI
    500GB Seagate 7200rpm HDD
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    iTunes 9.0.2.25
    4GB RAM

    Did I leave anything out?

@lazarosc: Thanks for the info. Not quite the same problem, but I'll give it a shot. Can't crank the speakers right now, I'm not in the best location for that.
