This is the first time I've seen this happen, so any pointers would be great.

I enabled the Intel Virtualization Technology on the work laptop studio 13. Ever since then, the laptop has been constantly hanging (not always) off the Dell or Windows bootscreen.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. I need this to run the XP mode.

Does this happen to anyone else? I contacted Dell today and was informed that it could be caused by a faulty motherboard. I wasn't entirely convinced because the laptop is still fairy new.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

Is it possible for someone to try this on their laptop and see if the problem can be duplicated? I have a feeling that this is caused by a bug in the latest BIOS update.

    Thanks.

I am going to try Win7 64-bit when I take this laptop home tonight to see if the problem is caused by the operating system.

    Thank you.

Edit: I will report back if the problem is indeed caused by the O.S. Thanks!

    Sorry to hear that mate.

I'm using Windows 7 64-bit on my SXPS 1340 and successfully installed Windows XP (VT) and used it for few minutes last week without any problem.

*I got the installer from Microsoft.com

Finally solved the mystery for the system hang. I would like to thank everyone for the help.

When you have Intel Virtualization Technology enabled, do not insert Windows 7 Reinstall DVD. It will casue the system to hang randomly.

Do not enable Intel Virtualization Technology if you are going to reinstall your operating system. Enable it after you finish installing the O.S., and make sure that you take out the DVD.

I don't know the logic behind the BIOS boot process other than the POST. I would assume that it's probably caused by the Phoenix BIOS code. Don't know 100% for certain. I am just glad that it's solved.

    Thanks all.
