Welcome me to the XPS1530 Family

Well, I just finally pulled the trigger. I have been going back and forth between the 1530, the gateway 6860(my bestbuy had it on clearance) and the bestbuy deal on the gateway 1711 that best buy is having tomorrow. I finally decided on the 1530 due to I would prefer the 15" for better portability as I won't be doing a lot of gaming so I won't need the power of the 8800/9800gts plus i have the 3 year complete care warranty.

Well anyways I used the EPP deal that has been posted here(yes i do get EPP discounts through my employer). Anyways, here is what I got.

I am looking forward to this laptop. I have an estimated shipping date of 9/16/08, but my rep said it should probabally ship sooner. I am hoping that it does.

I was going to go for the LED screen, but I figured why not go for the full hd screen as I will be using it to watch some HD tv when not at my tv and watching HD movies from various sources plus I got a discount on the lcd upgrade, the rep was almost done with his shift and wanted to get this sale done today, so I got a discount on the lcd upgrade along with the upgrade to the 320GB harddrive to help convince me to buy it today.

The ESD - That is always over-projected, so you may actually get it sooner! That would be a good thing!

hey congrats man, i got my m1530 about 2 weeks earlier than expected lol. i hope your lappy comes soon, with no defects. have fun watching your driveway lol, i waited in the fog for mine as my house is currenly a construction site. keep us posted!!!!

 

Wow I can't wait for mine either!!! I got mine with the Blu-ray drive and the LED screen. I got over 130 Blu-rays so this will serve me well on the road.

Can I ask why no Blu-ray drive for you? I know an extra $400 is alot but it would better serve your full HD screen and if I'm not mistaken doesn't this bad boy have an HDMI out? So shouldn't it be able to be used as a Blu-ray player hooked to an HDTV's HDMI as well as a portable player?

 

Man, I ordered completely online in Canada through dell.ca. When I call to get a sleeve and earbuds they flat out say no. I think I should cancel my order and give them a call and get ahold of a rep looking for some comission.

 

Ya, my rep told me I WOULD get them, but if I don't, I will just call dell up and tell them I was told by my rep that they would comee included and that I was duped into buying it because of that and I want to return it and go with another brand. I am sure they would send me the items or give me some store credit or something.

Don't be afraid to do that. You have to try and mess with Dell a little to get the most bang for your buck - you'll eventually run across a nice person who'll help out w/o you having to con them into giving you what you expected.

 

My Rep also assured me I would recieve the accessories aswell. After reading about them on here I made sure I asked about them and he said that my M1530 should definately come with the sleeve and earbuds, among other little things. So if I don't recieve them I will just call back the Rep I delt with and let him credit me or send them out.

 

Thanks. I think I will enjoy it. I have been looking forever at laptops and I finally decided to pull the trigger on the 1530. It fits in perfectly for what I will be using it for. I was also looking at the gateway fx laptops because they have a great performance per dollar ratio, but I just couldn't convince myself to buy a 17" laptop, they are just too big for my use.

 

2 headphone jacks, capacitive touch media controls, a really nice barrel hinge, thin slope design, webcam/mic, fingerprint reader...

You definitely got yourself a hell of a deal. I wish those of us with the business class models could get the nice touch buttons .

You ordered just now and your estimated ship date is 9/16? I ordered on august 21st and mine is 9/17. Do I just have bad luck or what?

When you order has little impact on your delivery date, it's what options your selected on your order that is the determining factor...

 

My estimated ship is 9/11 and I ordered mine on 8/25. My previous order that I changed was ordered 8/22 and estimated ship of 9/18. Now my Rep told me that happened since I changed my CPU from the T8300 to the T9300. The T8300 are more popular I guess. He said it would be even sooner if I got black instead of Midnight Blue and a regular screen instead of the LED. Certain components and configurations get backordered and delayed he said.

 

What screen did you order? I know at one point the LED screens were on backorder.

 

Well I just called the automated order status number and it said my order was in the boxing phase. Looks like my order will ship ahead of schedule. Probably due to me not ordering the led screen or the 9 cell battery. WUXGA screen ftw.
