Until I read about this Nvidia problem.

Yes, I did a little research but the problem is whenever you search just about anything on the net it comes up with complete mayhem!

Anyway I bought the 2 year old laptop off eBay to replace my NC10 cause it wouldn't play HD films (Atom?) and I wanted something slightly bigger with some 'muscle' this laptop fit the bill and did everything I needed and more.

    Specs are;
T9300 Core 2 Duo, Nvidia 128mb, 4gb 667mhz ram, 320gb 7200rpm HDD, LED screen and all the other extras... Oh and Windows 7 Ultimate

I use the laptop for browsing, music, pictures and the odd videos. Am I safe from this Nvidia problem since I don't do intensive gaming/video editing etc or is it random?
If doing this copper mod is an essential, I'll go find some copper and paste on Monday...

Thanks and what a great forum! :D

Information about the gpu's name and its temperatures are required for us to answer your question.

After opening my system last night (was curious)
I can see someone has done the copper mod thing already...

I just want putting at ease though. Is it still inevitable? The temp above is with more stuff running than usual.

I think that that is quite a low temperature for the M1330, seeing that my M1530 runs at that temperature at idle ;)

Is that temperature in idle or maximum?

As long as your gpu doesnt exceed 80c at max temps the card should live its life. Ideal idle temps is 40c-50c

My 8400m GS is nearly 3 years old and still kickin. I played games and even overclocked it hard during the first year of ownership. Its copper moded.

If you don't stress your gpu more than you did while measuring your temperature you shouldn't worry. My 8600m gt runs at 92-94 Celcius (mine uses an mxm slot, while nvidia 8 series gpu's soldered to the motherboard tend to die faster).

My old Vostro 1500 had the 8600M GT and it is still kicking. My bookeeper uses it every day. Your idle temps are not ideal. I would run a monitor and keep an eye on temps when you're streesing the GPU. Keep it free and clear of dust as well. Have you given it a good cleaning yet?

Thanks, my idle temp is 41 deg C
And one of the first things I did was pop a few covers off the back and hoovered the away dust.

So, just don't let it go over 80 deg C and I'll be OK?

    Yes, should be good.

Did the laptop come with extended warranty?
