I'm just wondering as Dell wants me to return the 90Watt. Not a big deal, but I'm wondering if it's just me or not.

yes.
I think that members of NBR were allowed to keep them early on, but now; the old ones go back. -
Ok thanks for the quick answer
-
No problem.
Enjoy your system. -
Returned my today.
-
yes...within 10 days or they would charge me for it, if you don't send it back quick enough they will send reminders before they charge you...

i've never had to return a borked power adapter when it was replaced under warranty IF they just sent me one in the mail (no return label on the insert sheet). once, a tech came to replace something and he had a new power adapter with him - he needed to take the old one back (insert had a return label).
in the last 10 years, I've warrantied maybe a dozen power bricks. -
I think it really depends on who you get. I didn't have to return my 90W adapter. I use the 130W as my travel/gaming adapter and the 90W as my "dock" adapter for charging.

Did Dell give you 130W adapter? I heard that it will be given only for those which have Studio XPS 1640/1645 models not 1647 like me, and I can see you have the same system. The adapter it seems ok but I think is lack of power of the laptop when I uncompress something, the system gets almost blocked till the unrar is finished, is normal?
I sent to Dell this issue but did not get an answer yet. -
Did you guys have to pay for the shipping of 130W adapter?
-
It's a free replacement, no payments.
-
I did not need to send mine back.
-
saw the charges on my account at dell.com. had to send it back or they will collect. make sure you keep the tracking/ref number on return label.
-
They gave me the 130W adapter. I specifically asked my technician when he offered to provide the 130W adapter if I could keep the 90W and he told me yes.
-
what is the difference? more watts? the PC needs more watts?
-
In short: Yes

The Dell rep told me not to worry about it. If they want it back, they'll send notices. Since the guy on the phone said I don't need to return it, I kept it.
-
People who worked the replacement through the reps posting on NBR did not have to return the 90w adapter. If you went directly to dell tech support, they want it back.
I kept mine. -
I was not required to send the old one back...
-
I have received the 130w adapter and have 90w too. They did not say anything about it. 130W is not heating as much as the 90W, while surfing, doing light stuff the 130W stays almost cold, the other one was not oveheating but much hotter.
Were you asked to return your 90Watt adapter when you got the 130Watt?
