What are the normal temps for the Dell XPS M1710?
Mine are with real temp
cpu 54c to 60c on idle with normal use
gpu 55c to 61c on idle with normal use no gaming.
do those temps seem high at all? i just had my motherboard and gpu replaced for heat reason i believe so im concerened that these temps are too high. now before i had the replacement the temps were the same so is this normal?

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Those look fairly normal. I've got a D620 of the same generation with a similar idle processor temp. My old E6400 with a discrete GPU had a similar idle graphics temp. It's ultimately hard to say if heat's going to be a problem with idle temps, though. What do you get under load?

when i run the 3dmark06 my temps are
gpu 78c
cpu 75c -
Wow, now I'm wondering if my temps are too high?
I'm interested in this topic because I have a two and a half year old 1710 and have had the mobo replaced once and the video card 3 times. Originally it came with nVidia 7900 512 which ran ok for about 2 yrs but finally went south and since Dec 2008, Dell has installed 2 more GeForce Go 7950 GTX 512's but still had video problems; system would boot to black screen only and sometimes to Safe Mode. Running Dell's pre-boot diagnostic returned video mem failures but this problem was sporadic, meaning it would boot normallly sometimes then only in Safe mode other times. Then, Dell's pre-boot diagnostic would show all tests passed. Wierd huh? BTW; all off this under full warranty.
Since then and as of 4/18/08, the Dell phone support guy did a remote connect to my laptop and updated the mobo-BIOS to ver AO7 and did a video card driver update to Forceware 174.31 and so far so good.
Today I installed SpeedFan 4.38 and am getting GPU temps at idle around 74-75c. Ran an WMV file and the temps remained about the same, maxing out at 77c.
Any input here would be greatly appreciated.
