    Hi folks,

Here in the UK you can't get Blu-Ray options so I want to buy the blu-ray writer drive you can get in other regions (such as the US i think) and swap my drive out. As it's a slot loading one, I assume it's Panasonic (who I believe own the patent on slot loading drives). Can someone give me the exact make/model that works with new XPS 15 please?

I believe it needs to be the specific one as the drive doesn't have an eject button and it keyboard controlled like the Apple computers are.

    Mucho appreciated folks.

Other members have posted this model: Panasonic UJ-267

I might be being blind but I can't seem to find any info on this drive whatsoever. If someone out there is better a Googling than I am, please do let me know :)

Blu-ray writer isn't an option neither in USA.
You can only get a blu-ray reader from Dell.

I stand corrected - indeed BD reader only in US.

The part number of Panasonic UJ267 is the correct 9.5mm slot loading BD reader/writer drive for the XPS 15 and incidentally also works in a Mac laptop (with the right software) according to some forums.

Looks like these drives have only appeared a month ago so it might be a bit too soon to try get hold of one of these but I would like one in due course.

For anyone else looking to do the same, the Dell tear-down guides under support show how to remove the optical drive.

Cheers mate - that's the one. Unbelieveable price though! I think i'll wait until it's more commonly available and (hopefully) the prices will be lower. This just looks like a too new a part that's not readily available at the moment.

Yea... as it says in the eBay description; this is the very first slim blu-ray burner/reader. Even just the reader is super expensive: 9.5mm SATA UJ167 blu-ray player BD-ROM slot-in load drive Apple Macbook Pro Dell | eBay

Anyone changed the drive? Does the Panasonic/Mata UJ-267 produce a lower noise at startup?
