I believe they are the Samsung 470 series Solid State Drives.

Ya it's probably an OEM Samsung 470 series SSD, maybe even PM830, though people with Sandy Bridge Precisions are getting Crucial M4 SSDs.

What about on the XPS 17?

I've seen the PM810, but that was in Australia.

So I'll be getting a good quality SSD then, correct? So it'd be worth the $370?

Yes but the warranty is tied to Dell as they are OEM SSDs. You can get an aftermarket Samsung 470 256 GB for ~280 on Ebay shipped (brand new).
