    What causes the Southbridge whine in the M1330?

    I have the A04 Motherboard and I am just wondering what causes the noise and if it's possible to mod it to make the noise disappear.

    It's not the southbridge, it's the CPU whining at lower power states. It affects many laptops with Core 2 Duos and there is SADLY no fix. (Well, besides disabling lower power states, which will lower battery life). But I don't consider that a fix, I consider that a workaround.
