    I have a dell xps m1710 laptop with a cracked screen. I need to factory reset it. I know how to do it but i need to know how much time i need to wait after hitting the power button to do the factory reset

    Are you talking about how long before pressing the function to start the process? If that is the cause usually right after it starts its power wake state is when I would press the key but if your screen is broken so you can't see it your not going to see what your doing to start with.
