    Hi,

I was going to buy a new M1330 from Dell but I spoke to my tax advisor today and it looks like I will have to pay back at least 1500 euro this year :(
Thus, I want to cut back on the cost of the laptop.
    How does this one look:

It is refurbished, but they assure me that it has only been used for a couple of weeks and comes with original Dell packaging etc.
It is close to the best specs one can get on the M1330 and will cost me about 150 euro less than a new model with low specs.
Only downside is that it doesn't come with a Dell warranty, but rather their own "3 month return to base warranty".

Would you guys go for this?

I wouldn't go for it if I were you. First off a few M1330 have heating issues. Secondly, you can get a refurbished M1530 w/ an 8600M GT at that price or lower. Maybe some other laptop as well.

    I wouldn't.
Not with that short warranty, and the whole overheating, gpu failing issue.

    Thanks for the replies!

I haven't heard of this GPU over heating issue before. Which GPUs does it happen with? Will I be safe if I buy it new from Dell?

Edit: forgot to mention, the reason I am going for the M1330 is the size and weight, I have to carry it around a lot and I'm afraid the M1530 is too big.

    Regards

So I just read through some posts on this forum (and a few others). It seems the overheating problem is quite widespread... many people say they dont have problems, while at the same time many see their laptops failing within 6 months. Does Dell have this problem sorted out by now? I don't want to be going through the hassle of having my mobo, etc. replaced.
This laptop did seem to be too good to be true for this price... should I continue my search for a laptop elsewhere?

m1530 aint too big but 1330 is better for travel, and yea if you buy n ew from dell you will get replaced parts or even a whole new system if you have heating issues they cant resolve, endless support, best part about dell. Had my whole m1730 replaced happy i bought new.
