    what do you think of this setup i am getting a laptop for my birthday but cant spend much. i would like to do some gaming but mostly programming.

    i personally would go for 7600 rpm HDD. but its still good...

    7600vs5400 isn't that much of a difference

    how about LED or high res?

    ...it's 7200 rpm ;)

    7200 means faster boot up times/seek times but is more expensive. Some 7200 drives also generate more heat and use a little more energy, translating into shorter battery life. Transfer speeds are slightly faster than a 5400rpm drive.

    However, 250GB @ 5400rpm has a high density and will probably outperform a few of the lower end 7200rpm drives' transfer speeds. I say keep this one unless you want the extra bit of performance.

    Thanks for the replies and i will talk to my parents about the LED but i dont think the harddrive speed would be worth the money.

    the 250gig 5400rpm hd will be around as fast as a 160gig 7200rpm hd. get the intel draft n wireless card, it's the best upgrade u can get. u still get faster wireless speeds even on only a G connection.
