I had that on my configuration on my m1530...and I have no clue if there's an improvement in sound quality. It sounds as good as my Zune with the included earbuds, but meh.

its just a software thing it doesn't affect the speakers, just when u plug headphones in, i made the mistake up upgrading that instead of getting the intel wireless card, so bottom line is its useless not much of a difference

it does improve on the quality, but its still from the same onboard audio card.... unless u get the expresscard sound upgrade, theres a limit u can do

So what about the next upgrade they have that was the hardware version. Do you actually get a digital audio connector or something when you get that one. Also with the software one it says 5.1. How do you get 5.1 sound out of two speakers?

You can't get real 5.1 sound out of 2 speakers... only simulated 5.1 sound via software...
